Hi,
although I do not endorse Mr. Taylor’s vitriolic denigration of these United Kingdoms, as published, particularly his clear willingness to overlook the very much agrarian poverty of the failed economy of Bulgaria after many years of extreme socialism as a vassal of the Communist regime of the USSR.
However it is clear that the extremism of Farage’s UKIP and the racism of their xenophobic Pan EU Political EFD Group lays his party open to extreme denunciation by individuals like Mr. Taylor – however accurate or inaccurate they may be!
I most emphatically do not share the failed socialist aspirations of Mr. Taylor nor his assertions that the levels of uncontrollable influx of different cultures and nationalities to Britain can be seen as beneficial at the unprecedented levels we see as a result of the misfortune of having been betrayed by our self serving and unrepresentative political elite and sold into thrall of the obscenely profligate and corrupt undemocratic EU.
Unfortunately the low grade of Farage’s team inevitably exposes UKIP in particular and EUroScepticism in general to the realisation that Mr. Taylor is clearly not alone in his visceral rejection of Britain and its values but also that he can with some degree of accuracy pen such a letter all be it he uses the opportunity to tag on his anti British personal vendetta.

Open Letter to UKIP’s Nigel Farage on Insulting Bulgarians

Letters to the Editor | March 14, 2013, Thursday| 1742 views

Dear Mr Farage,

I read with great interest the open letter to you of Ralitsa Behar, a Bulgarian woman whom having studied in the UK has now returned to her home country. I wish to inform you that as a British man living in Bulgaria I must strongly disagree with her. I do not disagree in any way with her comments and statements and totally support her. But I must disagree with Ralitsa on one fundamental point that she raises – Ralitsa openly invites you to come to Bulgaria and to meet with her and her family. I write to ask you not to come. Personally as a British man I find you remarks so offensive that I would have you stopped at the border. Sadly under European Law I can no longer have you shot in front of your family!

The UK has 78 representatives in the European parliament. UKIP itself has 11 MEPs in the European Parliament. One of which, Roger Helmer was elected as a Conservative MEP but defected to UKIP in March 2012. If we wish to talk about representative percentages, UKIP only has the electoral support of 7.8 percent of British opinion. If we take into consideration the dishonest election of Roher Helmer, call it ‘corrupt’ shall we? A word you like to use in reference to the Bulgarian Parliament – then of that 7.8% of UKIP representation 0.90% are dishonest (That’s one in ten as near as damn it.)

You’re anti- Bulgarian comments have caused great insult so I think what is needed here is to explain to Bulgaria that you most certainly do not represent the political will of the British people. And you most certainly and categorically do not represent me.

During your recent visit to Sofia – accompanied by the tabloid press (the gutter press as they are known) with their average reading age ability of just 11 years you deliberately posed for photographs in the poorest and most impoverished area of the city. The area you chose to focus on in no way represents the reality of this wonderful capital city. You deliberately misrepresented Bulgaria for your own political gain. Without doubt if the Bulgarian press had acted in the same manner, focusing only on the deprivation of British inner-cities – You, Yes you Mr Farage would be most outraged. Let’s take a closer look a Britain, a place where there are 3.6 million British children living in poverty today. That’s 27 per cent of our own children, or more than one in four. Bulgaria’s official poverty statistic ‘for all’ equates to what we have just for children!

And of Bulgarian political corruption, other than of course your own elected MP lying to his electorate and switching party afterward. Have we really and conveniently already forgotten that on 20th May 2009, Harriet Harman announced the creation of the Independent Parliamentary Standards Authority, this intended to manage Members’ expenses ending the historical self-policing by MPs of their expenses.

Below just some examples of British parliamentary corruption that I’m sure the Bulgarian population will find most amusing:

The Crown Prosecution Service announced on 19 May 2010 that Labour MP Eric Illsley would be charged with three counts of false accounting; he was also suspended from the Labour Party. It was revealed Lord Taylor of Warwick, a Conservative peer, had been charged with six counts of false accounting. On 13 October 2010 it was also announced that former Labour MP Margaret Moran would also be charged with false accounting, while on 14 October 2010 former Minister of State for Europe and Labour MP Denis MacShane was also referred to the Police – as a consequence of which he was also suspended from the Labour Party. Three Labour Peers were suspended on 18 October 2010 due to their expenses claims: Lord Bhatia was suspended from the House of Lords for eight months and told to repay GBP 27,446; Lord Paul suspended from the House of Lords for four months and ordered to pay back GBP 41,982 and Baroness Uddin faced a police investigation for alleged fraud for claiming at least GBP 180,000 in expenses by designating an empty flat, and previously an allegedly non existent property as her main residence. She was suspended from the House of Lords until the end of 2012 and required to repay GBP 125,349.

In reference to these ‘Bulgarian Hordes’ whom you claim will swamp our country. In actual fact more people are leaving than arriving and within this number I include myself. I have left Britain and have no intention of ever returning. I would not trade in my new life here in Bulgaria for anything Britain could now offer. It doesn’t have anything to offer. The only jobs that the majority of immigrant EU workers do are the worst and lowest paid on offer – the jobs that the British themselves will not do. The same jobs that you and your right of centre buddies like to claim do not exist – but are now somehow suddenly found and stolen by ‘foreigners’.

Britain is a much greater country because of the historical and essential input of our ethnic minorities and foreign labour. Since Bulgaria’s EU membership in 2006 over 30,000 British nationals have purchased property in Bulgaria – Sorry to contradict you but actually we’re all leaving Britain – and I left because of people like you.

Bulgaria is an amazing country, it is full of the most welcoming and beautiful people that I have ever met and you clearly know nothing about it. We ‘The West’ throughout the Cold War undermined Bulgaria and other socialist countries at every opportunity and now that the wall has fallen it is not without just cause (as one of the so called ‘richest countries’ in the world) that we help its people to build a better brighter future.

In protest at your remarks I was going to organise a boycott of British goods but sadly I couldn’t find any to boycott.

But I will say this: You achieve nothing by your racist xenophobic comments other than to further isolate what was a great nation into a ‘backwater has been.’ We need Europe and we need immigrant labour, without which many British industries would and will economically fail. I am a Federalist, I would like to see a borderless and united Europe built upon firm Socialist principles and monetary union.

We agree on one thing, this that you and I could not be further apart on the political spectrum. Please stop claiming that you represent the ‘will’ of the British people – you do not.

Yours,

Jonathan Taylor

Here is  the letter from Ms. Behar to Nigel Farage:
Bulgaria: Mr. Farage, Come to Bulgaria to See You Are Wrong

UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage has renewed with a vengeance his criticism of Bulgaria in a bid to fuel fears over new immigrants, coming as of 2014.

Speaking last week on BBC’s Question Time, Nigel Farage slammed Bulgaria as a country in a terrible state, where the judiciary is not independent and the mafia basically runs the economy.

On Monday Ralitsa Behar, a young Bulgarian lady, who lived and studied in the UK and chose to go back to Bulgaria and build a career here instead of the UK, circulated to the media an Open Letter to Nigel Farage.

Following is the full text of the letter:

Dear Mr. Farage,

My name is Ralitsa Behar and I am a Bulgarian.

I decided to write to you, because I was surprised by your comments on the BBC1’s Question Time on January 17, 2013. As a person who is Bulgarian, lived and studied in the UK and chose to go back to Bulgaria and build a career here instead of the UK, I wanted to take a stand on your statement regarding Bulgarian and Romanian immigrants and explain why I chose to go back to my home country.

Firstly, I would like to introduce myself and explain my reasoning behind this letter. When I was 18 years-old and was finishing high-school, I decided to continue my education abroad and applied to several universities throughout the UK. I got offers from 4 universities, but finally decided to take upon the offer from the University of Edinburgh, studying BSc (Hons) Mathematics and Business Studies at the School of Mathematics. It was a very proud moment for me and my family, as at it was, and still is, one of the most elite universities, ranked number 20 in the world at that time.

I lived in Edinburgh for 4 years and finished my studies successfully, gaining a 2:1. I can say that I was one of the active students and tried to get the best out of my time in university. I was participating in university societies and their committees, I volunteered in a charity, raising funds for cancer research; I also spend 2 months interning in firm in London, and was later on offered a job position.

I have always appreciated everything that the UK has given me. Firstly, as an EU citizen, I was supported by the Scottish government and did not pay any tuition fee. This was a huge financial relief for me and my family, although we still spent over GBP 50,000 for living expenses. As a student, I was also entitled to free healthcare service, although thankfully I never needed it as much. I also appreciate the fact that I had the opportunity to live and study in one of the best places in the world – I find Edinburgh an incredibly charming and beautiful city with great atmosphere; and the University of Edinburgh – a truly astonishing institution with almost 500 years of history, with great teachers and amazing state-of-the-art facilities.

My strong connection to the UK is the reason why I decided to write this letter. Although I try and understand your immigration concerns, I must admit that I found your comments on Bulgaria untrue and somewhat insulting. In fact, they are only reaffirming my opinion of the wrongful idea that people in the UK and around the world have about countries in Eastern Europe.

I want to clarify, that I am far away from thinking that Bulgaria is doing as well as I hope it would be. I do not live in a bubble where I think that everything here is perfect – I understand our problems with our government, our law system, our education and healthcare systems. Living in the UK for so long only made me realise how much more we need to do, to learn and to grow to make our country better. Nevertheless, I have to disagree with some of the false information that you shared during your appearance on the show.

Firstly, the data that you stated on Bulgaria is untrue:

You said that the average monthly salary in Bulgaria is 200 Euro. According to the National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria, the average monthly salary in the country for the last quarter of 2012 is 754 Levs, which is 385.5 Euro, almost double the number that you said.

You said that the average monthly pension in Bulgaria is 100 Euro. The average monthly pension for 2012 is actually 138 Euro.

You said that almost 50% of the people in Bulgaria live in poverty, however, the number is untrue; it is about 27%, almost two times less.

I was very surprised to hear such false data as I was thinking that a politician as yourself would take the time to check this information, as it is easily accessible online in English.

Nevertheless, I must say that not only the untrue data that you stated on national television bothered me. I believe that statements such as “If I was a Bulgarian, I would be packing my bags now, wanting to come to Britain are bold and somewhat inappropriate. And since you were focusing on the problems in our country and why we would choose to come live in your country, let me tell you why I chose to “pack my bags, wanting to go back to Bulgaria”.

Firstly, Bulgaria is a country with great potential. I am a firm believer that young people, who study abroad should come back to Bulgaria to pursue their career goals. Having a degree from a foreign university, I realised that my know-how would be much more needed here, than in the UK. After all, we are the future of our country and I believe that we are the ones who can bring this country forward.

In this respect, I would also add that my knowledge was much more valued in Bulgaria. One cannot deny that there is fierce competition in the UK labour market and it is incredibly hard, even for young people with good education, to get jobs which will allow them to be financially independent.

Furthermore, I believe that Bulgaria provides much more opportunities for businesses. When in university, I wrote my dissertation on family businesses in Bulgaria since the fall of communism in 1989. One of the conclusions from my research was that there was, and still is great demand for the creation of small and medium enterprises in Bulgaria and one of the great benefits of doing this is the fact that we have the lowest flat tax of 10% in Europe and only a 5% dividend tax rate. Additionally, it is easy to quickly launch a nеw company in Bulgaria as the founding capital required is only 1 Euro.

I would like to say that with this letter I wanted not only to correct the false information that you stated on television; I also wanted to explain that not all Bulgarians and Romanians that come to the UK are “unskilled workers”; and even if they are, they also contribute to your economy. I also wanted to take this opportunity to invite you to visit Bulgaria as a guest of me and my family, so that we can explain to you how much our country has changed over the past 20 years and see for yourself the potential that we have to grow even more in the future.

Finally, I want to clarify that this letter was written with good intentions. I hope that it shed some light on the issues that you discussed regarding Bulgarian immigrants and I would be very thankful if I receive a reply from your behalf.

Yours sincerely,

Ralitsa Behar

Mr. Farage, Come to Bulgaria to See You Are Wrong

Open Letter | January 28, 2013, Monday | Viewed: 14960

Dear Mr. Farage, My name is Ralitsa Behar and I am a Bulgarian. I decided to write to you, because I was surprised by your comments on the BBC1’s Question Time on January 17, 2013….

As a final point it is worth reitterating the comments of one of the most detailed and meticulous researchers when it comes to UKIP – Barbara Booker, who like myself is an avid supporter of the basic principles of UKIP, back in the days when it had principles rather than a gaggle of largely anonymous low lifes too ashamed of their antics to put their names to their playground style of ya boo bullying and the low grade riff raff that is UKIP’s current staff and leadership team of corrupt ne’er do wells:

This item was published on a corrupt open forum managed under the control of UKIP to whom they respond even when UKIP supporters are repeatedly shown to be liars!

Expose the truth to assist Nigel Farage before:

Nigel Farage walks into any more europhile traps. Didn’t anyone on his staff check out Ralitsa Behar before banging out a response to her open letter that’s given the Sofia News Agency the excuse it wanted to publish a federalist attack on Britain and British euroscepticism? All Farage has done is provide material for any number of ‘Jonathan Taylor’ type replies.

Publication of the Ralitsa/Farage/Taylor letters originated on http://www.novinite.com/ (Sofia News Agency). Novinite was founded by the Bulgarian journalist and public relations expert Maxim Behar http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maxim_Behar who, “In 1995, according to his love of journalism, he founded the National Association of Journalists for the EU, which he served as vice president and then president until 2001” http://elec.digitalseye.com/maxim-be…l-of-bulgaria/. Not difficult to see where he’s coming from, then!

Ralitsa Behar is his daughter.

Why on earth doesn’t Nigel Farage shell out some of his lavish expenses on employing a half competent PR team to protect him from this sort of thing?

Regards,

Greg_L-W..

Hi,
we note UKIP under the attempt at leadership of Nigel Farage displays its management style, professionalism and competence at governance which can be well analysed by extrapolation from how it manages the simplest of events and the utter bufoons it has as spokesmen as they bicker and squabble to how they would behave were they ever to have authority over anything of consequence.

Sharon caught in the cross fire of two neighbouring UKIP regions who cannot agree if she’s their media spokesman

Sharon Jardine, UKIP.
Sharon Jardine, UKIP.

By John Elworthy , The Editor Wednesday, March 13, 2013
3:35 PM

UKIP has still not decided if they will apologise- and reinstate- their ‘Cambs media liaison officer’ Sharon Jardine who has been caught in the cross fire between neighbouring regional officials.

The party’s eastern region insists that her job title is “unofficial”, she’s not even a party member and the man who gave it to her had no right to do so.

However the party’s east midlands office appears to contradict the tough statement put out by eastern region press officer Stuart Gulleford.

He told her to quit using the title immediately although Chris Pain, UKIP East Midlands regional chairman has an entirely different version of events.

“I would like to confirm that I had asked Sharon to represent UKIP in Wisbech due to the hard work that she has put into the area,” he said.

He said comments to the contrary “are bewildering to say the least”.

Ken Perrin, also criticised by Mr Gulleford for having “no authority to either appoint or give out job titles”, responded by claiming he’d like to meet me “face to face and have a gentlemanly discussion about this”. His recent emails have been signed “UKIP NE Cambs organiser.”

Meanwhile Mrs Jardine has produced a completed membership form from February for UKIP “and I do hope I get an apology for all this rubbish.”

She said: “I will not be called a liar.”

Mrs Jardine sprung to the fore when she began organising a Facebook page entitled ‘Wisbech Immigration Issues’ which plans a protest in Wisbech Park in May.

Mrs Jardine, of Tydd Gote, said she planned to stand for UKIP in May’s county council elections and was organising a protest to allow people to voice the view that “immigration is out of control.”

She said: “I started to learn more about UKIP but I’m not someone who is political. I just believe that immigration is out of control and it needs to be sorted”

Mr Gulleford said: ““We have nothing to do with the protest march- and I knew nothing of it until newspaper cuttings were brought to my attention,” he said.

“People seem to be adopting titles that don’t exist.”

As of last night Mr Gulleford would only confirm that Alan Lay of Wisbech would be the official UKIP candidate in a Fenland Council by election.

Of Mrs Jardine there was no further word. Mr Gulleford’s bosses are said to be “dealing with it.”

To see senior members of the management of UKIP all acting in complete discord and to have as a spokesman the oaffish bully Stuart Agnew described by Farage as ‘as thick as pig sh*t but hes got money‘ – a fool who threatens to assault people who dare to hold him in contempt a man who is still under investigation for fraud having boasted on camera to the Sunday Times of how he defrauded the public purse to pay for political aspirants in UKIP!
Clearly UKIP executives either do not converse or worse still care nothing of the party in their scrabble for their own positions!
Yet again UKIP makes it abundantly clear that in their present state no one of any integrity or belief in probity and ethics could see them as other than unfit for purpose.

TO LEAVE THE EU

What is the Exit and Survival Plan for these United Kingdoms to maximise on the many benefits when we Leave-The-EU. It is the DUTY of our Politicians and Snivil Cervants to ensure the continuity, liberty and right to self determination of our peoples – they have a DUTY to protect against crime and secure both our food and our borders.

They also have a duty to put in place contingency plans for the collapse of The EUro & The EU or the wishes of the peoples of Britain to Leave-The-EU.

NONE of these DUTIES has a single British politician upheld for over 40 years. They have drawn their incomes fraudulently and dishonesty.

Politicians are failing to tell the truth, but so are almost all wanabe Politicians, the Main Stream Media and Snivil Cervants.

The fact is that even if EVERY British MEP wanted change in The EU it would achieve NOTHING, at very best if they ALL agreed they would then  still have less than a 10% say in the governance of Britain by The EU.

Every single British Politician, of EVERY Party, elected since before we joined the EUropean Common Market, has promised to change The EU’s CAP – In 40 Years they have achieved absolutely NOTHING towards that unanimous promise!

To try to put a value on OUR Freedom is as futile as floccipaucinihilipilification and as odious as the metissage of our societies, as we rummage in the ashes of our ancestors dreams, sacrifices and achievements, the flotsam of our hopes and the jetsam of our lives, consider the Country and Anglosphere which we thus leave our children and the future, with shame!

PLEASE POST THIS TAG AS FOLLOWS: ON YOUR eMAILS & BLOGS, FORUM POSTINGS & MAILINGS – GET THE MESSAGE TO THE PEOPLE IT IS OUR BEST HOPE AS WHOEVER IS APPOINTED WILL MAKE NO DIFFERENCE AS PROVED!

I SUGGEST – since there is clearly no political party of repute, advocating or campaigning to Leave-The-EU for these United Kingdoms and restoration of our independent sovereign, democracy, with Justice & the right to self determination in a free country & minded that membership of The EU is sucking out the life blood and identity of our Country in a counter patriotic manner and at a cost in hard cash of some £53 Million a day we must consider:

Denying the self seeking & meaningless wanabe MEPs and the no longer relevant MPs the Mythical Mandate for which they clamour.

Diktat is imposed from The EU but Law should be made at Westminster, for our Country & our Peoples, by the peoples of our Country.

It is time that the entire mechanism of governance in these United Kingdoms, which has so clearly failed our Country and our peoples, was radically overhauled and updated to democratic status – failure to change will mean when we Leave-The-EU and/or it finally collapses, as it surely will, we will be no better off as the self same self styled, self enriching clique will be all too willing to betray us as they have done relative to The EU and its fore runners.

To achieve change support rational planning as with The Harrogate Agenda and similar thinking of gravitas.

Demand a Royal Commission on the cost benefits of leaving The EU and of remaining its vassals with a clear ‘Exit & Survival Strategy‘ for implementation OR responsible contingency planning dependent on THEN holding a Referendum on IN or OUT to Let-The-People-Decide!

Hi,
it seems the Tories were well advised to off load Roger Helmer as one of their MEPs as we now see his true colours cast into the dustbin of protest voters UKIP.
In a relatively empty chamber one wonders howmany of those present joined Helmer to slumber through the special pleadings of the odious zionist regime trying to justify their abuse, humiliation, incarceration and dispossession of the peoples of Palestine.
Conveniently overlooking the building of a ghetto surrounding the indigenous peoples and the theft of their lands – even conveniently overlooking the terrorism of zionists and the murders by its protagonists we have the sanctimonious and self serving pleadings of Shimon Perez that the Hezbolla freedom fighters of Palestine be declared terrorists!
That is a bit rich for a man who himself was for some time a terrorist in Haganah!
Also hypocritical when you think of the zionist organised massacres in the Lebanon at Shatila and Sabra, to name just an example from the days of Ariel Sharon – who seems to have had his comeuppance having been in a vegetative state since January 2006!

‘I’m working too hard’, says MEP Roger Helmer after being snapped snoozing at the European Parliament

By PAUL WHYATT

AS Israeli president Shimon Peres urges Europe to step up pressure on Iran, East Midlands MEP Roger Helmer sinks into his chair to enjoy a nap.

The 69-year-old laughed off the embarrassing gaffe and even posted the image – taken at the European Parliament in Brussels yesterday – on his own Twitter account.

  1. East Midlands MEP Roger Helmer pictured having a nap during a speech by Israeli President Shimon Peres in the European Parliament in Brussels yesterday.

East Midlands MEP Roger Helmer pictured having a nap during a speech by Israeli President Shimon Peres in the European Parliament in Brussels yesterday.

Alongside the picture, Mr Helmer told his 3,815 followers: “This is what comes from working too hard!”

He later told the Derby Telegraph he thought the speech was “great” and that he joined in a standing ovation at the end.

Mr Helmer was ridiculed by rival MEPs and some constituents back in the UK insisted he should quit.

“We’re not paying you to sleep. If you’re too old and can’t hack it, resign,” tweeted one constituent.

Speaking to the Derby Telegraph from Brussels, Mr Helmer insisted the only person to whom he owed an apology was the Israeli president.

He said: “In my defence, I was in the office at 8am and I expect to leave at 10pm tonight – I will have worked a 14-hour day.

“I also blame the BBC for keeping me up late so I can join them reviewing the next morning’s papers.”

He added: “Shimon Peres received a warm welcome and I’m pleased to say I was awake to join in standing ovations both at the start and end of the speech.

“It was a 40-minute speech and I’m sad to say I did doze off a little bit towards the end. Being an elderly person, I make no apology other than to Mr Peres himself.”

Asked about what he thought of calls for him to resign, Mr Helmer said: “Perhaps the person who tweeted that should try working the hours that I do.

“People might not think MEPs work hard or do a good job, but apart from junior doctors we work longer hours than most.”

Liberal Democrat MEP Bill Newton Dunn said the image was being sent around parliament in Strasbourg and that Mr Helmer was the butt of jokes.

He said: “It’s being sent around parliament and is causing much amusement.

“The fact he is lying back with his hands joined together on his lap suggests the camera didn’t just catch him blinking.”

It is not the first time Mr Helmer has sparked controversy. In September, 2010, he angered Catholics when he drew a link between the Church and paedophiles.

And in January 2011 he Tweeted: “Why is it OK for a surgeon to perform a sex-change operation, but not OK for a psychiatrist to try to “turn” a consenting homosexual?”

FT History of the Rise of Nigel Farage & HIS Political Cult!
Failure of The FT to show any analysis demeans the article as just a PR stunt!
So let’s look at some of the points from my personal perspective, as a supporter of UKIP’s sometime core aims since long before Farage left school!
A supporter of UKIP and believer that for UKIP to be of any value to Britain it MUST clean up its act and introduce some gravitas and structure, training and ethicality or it will remain unfit for purpose, just a one man band out of control!

Nigel Farage

By George Parker

For David Cameron and Britain’s other mainstream politicians, Ukip’s maverick leader now poses a clear and present danger. Is it time to take him seriously? By George Parker
Nigel Farage©Philip Sinden

On election day May 6 2010, a man in a pinstriped suit boarded a light aircraft at Hinton-in-the-Hedges, Northamptonshire. Trailing on the dewy grass was a banner bearing a forlorn last-minute appeal: “Vote for Your Country – Vote UKIP.” Hardly anyone bothered to turn up.

While the world focused on a grey-faced Gordon Brown’s desperate fight to cling to power and on David Cameron confidently preparing for Downing St, the plane began its ascent over the English countryside. Within minutes, it was clear something was badly wrong: the banner was wrapped around the aircraft’s tail and rudder.

Nigel Farage’s relentlessly upbeat demeanour suddenly changes. “I thought: this is probably it,” he says. What does he remember? “The noise. The noise of the nose hitting the ground. Bang! I can still hear that.” His voice cracks.

“I barely want to think about it but I was upside down, completely caved in. I could hardly breathe, I was covered in fuel oil. I was desperate to get out … desperate. I kept pushing … I couldn’t get out. I thought, this thing is going to catch fire. Very scary. I promise you – that is very, very scary.”
Interestingly the pilot Justin Adams was trapped in the plane for a considerable time and suffered long term damage yet there is never any mention of him. Adams insisted that Farage sought compensation from his general accident indemnity yet he himself lost his plane, his business and aas a result his home and was divorced  whilst Farage having effectively gagged him ensured he himself gained cuedos & even foolishly alluded to a Messianic status having survived!

Sadly Justin Adams, seriously damaged by the events, was persecuted by the law and Farage’s claims led to his imprisonment!

This is Farage, leader of the UK Independence party, as you never see him. The heavy-smoking, beer-drinking maverick – scourge of Brussels and terror of Britain’s political elite – is a man lodged in the public consciousness as a jovial insurgent, dispensing barroom wisdom with remorseless good cheer.

It is the bar room wisdom masquerading as policy dispensed on the fly that has done so much harm to UKIP as a party and converted it from serious politics to a cult right down to the hired and paid ‘Praise Singers’ more redollent of third world politics!

But there is another side to Farage. The man pulled from the wreckage – sternum split, lung punctured, 10 bones broken, rosette slightly askew – emerged with a new-found purpose. Behind the jokey façade is a man with a deadly serious intent: to smash open the British political system and lead the UK out of the European Union.

“I think the accident made him more ruthless and more single-minded,” says David Campbell Bannerman, a former Ukip deputy leader. The British public and an increasingly anxious political elite across Europe are now starting to ask: “Where did Nigel Farage come from and where is he heading?”

Nigel Farage©Philip Sinden

Although Ukip has been around for 20 years and won 13 seats in the last European elections, the party’s rise under Farage’s leadership has been remarkable.

So also, it is worth noting, has the fall in identifiable individuals of probity and ethics amongst its activists where it seems personal ambition is best fulfilled, not by espousing ‘Leave-The-EU’ but by adding to the Farage cult mind set with unconstructive blind promotion of ‘Our Glorious Leader’.

The big leap forward was during the leadership of Roger Knapman which Farage inheritted but even so under Farage he has fallen out with and lost about 1/3rd. of his MEPs and it is only now that his partyu is clawing back to its previous membership levels of approaching 30,000, the recent climb back aided by issuing free membership for a period!

When Farage fell from the Northamptonshire skies on polling day in 2010, the crash was little more than a footnote in the general election. Ukip polled a modest 3 per cent and Farage’s own attempt to oust the House of Commons Speaker John Bercow in his Buckingham seat was a conspicuous failure: he was even beaten into third place by a strongly pro-European independent candidate. For many, the crumpled figure hauled out of the wreckage that morning was already a busted flush.

Less than three years later, and Farage is revelling in his party’s best-ever result in a parliamentary election. Ukip did not win the Eastleigh by-election, but it would be hard to tell from the demeanour of the party leader as he swaggers through a crowd of well-wishers amid a sea of lurid purple banners in the faded town centre.

The swagger4 is of course a studied pose as when one looks at the actual results in domestic elections over the last 3 months there is little reflection of the much quoted successes and generous pollsters results.

To be fair Farage has had  a couple of notable successes in by elections which stood out from the norm but even so after 20 years UKIP has still failed to get anyone of note elected to any seat in Britain!

The contest confirmed that Ukip under Farage is becoming a serious force, shearing off support from Cameron’s Tories but also claiming that two-thirds of its Eastleigh vote came from former Labour and Liberal Democrat supporters and previous non-voters.

Indeed Farage’s party is becoming a ‘serious force’ and for the first time will enter the general election able to destabilise seats in a few areas as never before but that must not be construed as a threat to the Tories across the board. Farage’s staff are the first to boast that they take votes from all parties and clearly this is true and in differing proportions in different areas – so as a threat to the Tories the Tories themse4lves are the greratest threat with the pucillanimity of the cuts and resultant failure to make good the damage done to Britain and to our economy of the corrupt, self serving unlucky 13 years of misrule by the economically illiterate Labour Party.

That much of the damage is done by membership of The EU is a message UKIP has failed to get across to the public at large and thus scaremongering over immigration and overt support of racism has been the stock in trade of Farage’s cult.

A party supposedly comprised of “cranks, gadflies and extremists” – in the words of former Tory leader Michael Howard – fielded an articulate healthcare specialist, Diane James, as its candidate. James came second to the Lib Dems with 28 per cent of the vote; most agreed that if the campaign had lasted another week she would have won.

It is also noted that Diane James for all the mystery of her background, has clearly been UKIP’s best candidate in any election to date and this was reflected in the vote! Many have even said that she did far better than could have been expected had Farage stood in Eastleigh and I feel they may well be right.

Yet others have said that if only Diane James had been elected there would be just cause to oust Farage as the ostensible leader of UKIP and give her5 the job, that would of course be dependent on her having the force of character to confine Farage to the job of party performer for the media and other areas of showmanship at which he is so good.

It is worth noting that Diane James was not just second beating the Tories and Labour but was a close second to The LibDims who although they won saw their majority cut to ribbons in one of their safest seats.

“We will take this tremor in Eastleigh and turn it into a national earthquake,” says Farage (it rhymes with “barrage”) in his clipped, military tones. But already his party has shaken the political establishment and forced Cameron’s Conservatives – fearing a fatal schism on the political right – to start engaging Ukip on its chosen battleground: Europe and immigration.

. . .

The 48-year-old man pulling the strings has other things on his mind when we meet in an Italian café in Westminster. Heavy bags under his eyes, he is drained by a schedule that takes him between “that dump” Brussels (where he works as an MEP) and Britain, where he lives in the Olde England Kentish village of Downe.

“I caught up with the post at midnight last night,” he says. “Fines for this, fines for that. If I don’t do my tax return they’re going to put me in jail.” Such is Farage’s dominance of his party (no other Ukip member comes close to his profile) he is in heavy demand from media across Europe. “On the day of Cameron’s Europe speech I did 16 hours of broadcasts,” he says. Campbell Bannerman – who left Ukip to become a Tory MEP – says Farage recognises he has become “a cult”.

The great drawback of forming such a cult is that it is totally dependent on a single man and if Farage were bought off with a deal or offer from the Tories one could expect UKIP to collapse – it is this great ineptitude in terms of leadership and the fear of delegation that leaves Farage over stretched and UKIP with only one recognisable individual and spokesman!

“There’s no escape … no escape,” Farage says. “I’m generally a pretty ebullient, optimistic person. I try to enjoy life, but are there just little times when you think, ahhh? Of course there are. No human being can work the number of hours I do a week and not have the odd moment like that.”

Nigel Paul Farage was born in Kent in 1964, one of two sons of a colourful and hard-drinking City stockbroker. Guy Justus Oscar Farage’s propensity to mix work with pleasure was clearly influential on the young Nigel, who followed his father into the City as a highly remunerated commodities trader. (Andrew, Farage’s younger brother, also headed to the City, where he still works as a broker on the London Metal Exchange.)

Guy, who became an alcoholic, divorced his wife Barbara when Nigel was five. But Farage acknowledges his father’s influence: like Guy – “the best-dressed man in the stock exchange at the time” – Nigel bears the demeanour and attire of a City gent before the barbarians were allowed in after the 1986 “Big Bang” reforms.

Nigel Farage receives treatment after a plane crash in 2010©INS News Agency LtdFarage after his airplane accident, May 6 2010

The sense of nostalgia for a bygone age was summed up by the story of when Guy – who kicked the bottle in his mid-thirties – was in the lift with Sir Nicholas Goodison, chairman of the London Stock Exchange, at the time of Big Bang and lamented, “You’ve ruined the best gentleman’s club in the world.”

In spite of his father, Farage enjoys a pint, using his local, the George & Dragon, as a testing ground for Ukip policies: “In my village pub they are totally against,” he says of Cameron’s plan to legalise gay marriage. To complete the anti-politician image, Farage is a heavy consumer of Rothmans cigarettes and enjoys sea-fishing and country sports. A Barbour-clad Farage loves cricket and used to be seen enjoying hare coursing – until it was banned in 2005. In short, he is a young-ish fogey: most people are surprised to learn he is still in his forties.

Farage is also a walking health-insurance nightmare. After leaving the prestigious Dulwich College in south London – alma mater of P.G. Wodehouse – and embarking on his City career he was knocked down by a car, aged 21, on his way home from a pub argument about UK-Irish relations – heavily lubricated by Irish whiskey and English ale.

Lucky to survive, he was only just emerging from a year in half-plaster when he was diagnosed with testicular cancer. Farage has expressed his “gratitude to evolution” for providing him with a spare: he has gone on to father four children in the course of two marriages. Given his track record, it was perhaps no surprise to see him staggering out of a crashed plane.

Traders at the London Stock Exchange in 1984©GettyTraders at the London Stock Exchange in 1984; Farage followed his father into the City before taking up politics

In spite of his success in the “trench warfare” of commodities trading – a lifestyle punctuated by spread betting and drinking – by the early 1990s Farage was becoming increasingly political. He feared that the traditional British way of life he cherished was in some way under threat from a European project whose ambitions were expanding rapidly.

His opposition to the EU crystallised as Britain dabbled with what he regarded as the lunacy of the Exchange Rate Mechanism – the precursor to the euro. The Maastricht treaty of 1992, which paved the way for a much closer union and the creation of the single currency, radicalised him.

But Farage was very different from most of the other founder members of Ukip in the early 1990s. He was young for a start and had an internationalist outlook. After divorcing Clare Hayes in 1997 (the couple had two boys, Sam and Tom) Farage married a German government bond broker, Kirsten Mehr, with whom he has two girls, Victoria and Isabelle. He had an agency business in Milan and worked for two French companies. By contrast, his new colleagues had personal memories of when a real military threat came from across the Channel: “You could always tell a Ukip meeting by the number of Bomber Command ties,” he says.

Interestingly Kirsten was working for Damian Hockney, in his office, when Farage met her I believe, where she was far from being a German Bond Broker as Hockney owned a hairdressing magazine!

Articulate and media-savvy – Farage likes to hold press briefings in pubs – he quickly rose through the party. By 1999 he was an MEP and in 2006 he was elected party leader. Although he briefly quit as Ukip leader in 2009 to contest the Buckingham seat – he said he was fed up with being “head cook and bottle washer” – he was back a year later. A remarkable renaissance was now under way.

Thast Farage defined himself as ‘head cook and bottle washer’ is a reflection on his ineptitude as a leader and his inability, or is it trust, that leads him to fear delegation!

The crisis in the eurozone fuelled Ukip’s rise, as did a sense that Britain lost control of its borders in the past decade when hundreds of thousands of Poles and Lithuanians came to the UK. But polling suggests that Farage is primarily surfing a wave of hostility towards all mainstream politicians: Ukip has become Britain’s protest party of choice.

Sadly this is all too true and thus UKIP as a party has a very questionable future as its dependence on one man makes it fragile particularly in its cult nature and people do not, it seems, vote for UKIP anymore as a Political Party or even as an anti EU membership party but merely as an accrual point for the protest votes.

The most dramatic consequence of Ukip’s growing popularity was Cameron’s decision in January to offer a British referendum on EU membership in 2017, if he wins the next election. The move was intended to halt the Farage surge, but for now at least it seems to have had the opposite effect. “They’re coming to play on our pitch now,” Farage says.

This does rather read as a Farage cult PR handout as in fact neither Farage nor UKIP had anything to do with the Westminster debate on EU membership nor the issue of a Referendum.

Farage failed the EUroSceptic movement pronouncing that he did not wish to destabilise the Tories during the EU Constitution efforts that were subsequently enacted as The Lisbon Treaty!

Farage’s fan club took absolutely no action in opposing the new and ever more binding EU Treaty! Nor had Farage or UKIP taken any action to promote a referendum nor a debate in The UK that was almost solely down to Nikki Sinclaire an Independent MEP forced out of Farage’s UKIP based on gender, lies about her promoted by Farage and his stooges and her refusal to compromise her integrity in support of overt racism, anti homosexuality and convicted anti Jewish fellows of Farage’s party in the EU.

In Eastleigh, Farage proved he could combine his anti-EU message with a more visceral campaign against mass immigration. He claims that Europe’s free movement rules will lead to a mass influx of Romanian and Bulgarian migrants next year when travel restrictions are lifted.

The ability to govern people is as Thomas Jefferson made clear ‘dependent on fear’ and was it not Benjamin Franklin who taught the Labour Party their only political wisdon that ‘No people will elect a government that raises taxes once they realise they can vote for free handouts’ or some such ;-(

That Farage has led his party down the populist route of gaining votes through the shibboleth of fear is to have demeaned and debase the very noble aim of Leave-The-EU espoused by EUroSceptics.

Ukip has other radical – some would say ludicrously unaffordable – policies to cut taxes and increase spending on the police, prisons and army, but the public is barely aware of them: Europe and immigration are Ukip’s greatest hits. Farage makes immigration sound like it is the most pressing issue facing Britain and the message is resonating.

One can relatively safely show that the vote for Farage’s party in Eastleigh was almost totally dependent on the fear of immigration which they promoted. Indeed that their candidate, though standing as a UKIP ppc, is actually an Independent Councillor involved with an adviser and lobbyist of The EU!

“I moved out of Southampton because you had a job to hear English being spoken,” says Stuart Wellstead, a handyman living in a cul-de-sac in the Eastleigh suburbs. “I can’t understand why we have an open-door policy when so many of our own are unemployed.”

Cameron and Labour’s Ed Miliband have inexorably been drawn on to policy terrain where Farage knows he is invincible: while mainstream politicians cannot rip up Europe’s commitment to the free movement of workers, the Ukip boss can offer voters like Wellstead the simple expedient of leaving the EU altogether.

Many of the so called policies of the Farage message are not only uncosted but unworkable as is the childish notion that we could pass a law in our UK Parliament to Leave-The-EU and just quit. It is only from the security of knowledge that one will not be elected to enact such populism that such foolish concepts can be put forward as facts or even policies and promises.

It is only recently, it seems, that UKIP has even heard of Article #50 and the mechanism to which we have signed under international law for the concept of Leave-The-EU!

After Eastleigh, Cameron insisted he would not desert the centre ground, but his team spent the next few days talking about Britain pulling out of the European Convention on Human Rights and taking measures to stop “benefit tourism” by Romanian and Bulgarian migrants.

Cameron’s team may ‘talk’ all they want but membership of The ECHR is enshrined in law as a constituent part of The EU’s Lisbon Treaty and thus can not be withdrawn from as with the status of EU citizens from Romania & Bulgaria or anywhere else.

It has been made abundantly clear to Cameron & his propagandists that The EU is not a pick and mix menu for all of young George EUstace’s protestations or the posturing of some on Cameron’s front bench!

“They’re all at sea,” Farage says as he surveys the post-election fallout. “They are just being blown around by the wind. They’re more split than they’ve ever been and the problem is that nobody in his party believes Cameron any more.”

It is hardly surprising no one believes Cameron any more with such light weight advisers as George EUstace and the vacillation from outspoken opposition to EU membership of William Hague to his present position supporting The EU and some of the most ridiculous and divisive policies as the idiotic attack on Libya and now Mali in a so called ‘Arab Spring’ that has proved so catastrophic and ill informed speading the idiocy of US bellicose foreign policy in potential flash point or flames from Pakistan though Africa in a swathe of misery and war in almost every country on route and those it has so far missed live in teetering fear!

One Tory minister admits Ukip is already having a profound effect on British politics without having a single seat in the Commons. “It’s like the Green party in the 1990s – they ended up greening all the major parties and Ukip could have the same effect on issues like Europe and immigration.” Critics would say that Farage’s influence is malign and mean-spirited; he says he is only speaking up for the people.

Populism as a cult is always deeply questionable and destabilising and seemingly has so very much more influence from the more vile aspects of Nationalism than the laudable values of Patriotism, where so very many do not understand the differentiation!

The arrival of Ukip in 1999 at the European parliament was a culture shock to say the least. Ukip brought a penchant for banners, occasional public protests and rare flashes of passion to the sterile European parliament hemicycle. When Tony Blair came to the parliament in Brussels, Farage and his Ukip colleagues taunted him from their seats, festooned with Union Jack flags. The anger flashed across Blair’s eyes: “This is 2005, not 1945. We are not fighting each other any more.”

It was however Daniel Hannan’s erudite speech, excoriating Labour & its crass incompetence,  that resonated both across the peoples of EUrope and those in America who have discovered where Europe is!

Farage says a defining moment for him came in 2005. He was drinking champagne in the Brussels press bar to celebrate the Dutch rejecting the EU constitution in a referendum when a German MEP came by and said, “You may have your little celebration tonight but we have 50 different ways to win.” I thought, ‘My God, these people are frightening, they’re fanatical.’”

Though I would incline to the belief that Farage’s more notable Damascine moment was his rejection by the short lived Declan Ganley and the realisation that even when the peoples of France voted against The EU Constitution it made not a wit of difference as the unelected bureaucrats of The EU in complete contempt for democracy or the peoples of The EU merely renamed the document and forced it into being aided by a good measure of corrupt politicians and yet more it had bribed or were too stupid to understand they were being manipulated!

It was at this stage, if my memory serves me right, that Farage increasingly moved from a position of Leave-The-EU towards a policy of appeasment and seeking to reform The EU whilst UKIP invented a series of policies, seemingly left over in David Bannerman’s briefcase from when he betrayed the Tories – a pretence to be a fully fledged political party rather than a campaigning Party with an aim other than self advancement!

. . .

In 2009 Britain returned 13 Ukip MEPs – the party finished second – and Farage became the leader in Brussels of a group of rightwing European parties which shared his desire to throw sand in the wheels of the EU. But with increased success came increased scrutiny of Farage; was he the jolly frontman for a movement with a less savoury side?

Let us not forget that the largest group in Farage’s odious Pan EU EFD political Group are the Italian Lega Nord who are strong advocates of membership of The EU and reformists espousing racial hatred, violence and extremism!

Godfrey Bloom

Ukip describes itself as a “democratic libertarian party”

Yet UKIP leadership show a singular misunderstanding of the meaning of Libertarian being inclined, it would seem, mor to the concept of libertine!

opposed to discrimination of any kind,

Yet Farage, Bloom & UKIP themselves have been found guilty of discrimination by a British Court of Law and Bloom has been censured and/or fined for his anti homosexual stance and anti German racism by The EU Parliament!

but it is part of the Europe of Freedom and Democracy group that includes the Italian Northern League, some of whose members have expressed sympathy with the extreme racist views of Norwegian mass-murderer Anders Breivik.

The Northern League’s Mario Borghezio declared in a radio interview that Breivik had “excellent” ideas, remarks which Farage condemned.

To condemn is somewhat meaningless from a so called leader, when he took absolutely zero action – just lip service to populism that totally betrayed the principles of almost all UKIP members!

Meanwhile Ján Slota, leader of the Slovak National Party, Ukip’s Slovak allies, has railed against his country’s Hungarian minority as a “tumour” and suggested dealing with Roma with a “long whip in a small yard”.

Farage rejects forcefully any suggestion his party is racist and points out that it does not allow any former BNP members to join (a proscription that is not applied by other mainstream British parties). This ban is on one level a defensive measure: Ukip fears that the shambolic BNP will try to reassemble under the Ukip banner through a policy of entryism.

Again populism of its lowest form and clearly for gain even inventing groups to hate who travel on the same Leave-The-EU track which UKIP members follow whilst UKIP leadership seem to have ameliorated their position as reformists for expediency and income!

Ukip’s members are at times famously politically incorrect, some would say misogynist. Ukip MEP Godfrey Bloom once quipped that “no employer with a brain in the right place would employ a young, single, free woman”, while Marta Andreasen (the party’s only woman MEP) last month defected to the Tories claiming Farage was “an anti-woman Stalinist dictator”.

Let us not forget UKIP’s female vanguard was headed up by Nikki Sinclaire MEP who had quit UKIP over its support of racism, dishonesty and corruption whilst Marta Andreasen was still happily wallowing in the gains she had made by supporting Nigel Farage and as his placement!

Having failed to get a place in the Tories and various other parties Andreasen was eventually manipulated into position as a UKIP MEP by Farage!

Farage chuckles at the idea that he does not like women. In 2006 he drunkenly suspended his hostility to the EU’s open borders policy to accept an invitation for a late-night drink from a “sleek and seductive” 25-year-old Latvian called Lita.

Lita told the News of the World that Farage was something of a stud and that they had had sex seven times before he fell asleep, “snoring like a horse”. Farage, in his memoirs, Flying Free, claims he was too drunk to perform, although he concedes the snoring. “Lita wasn’t screwed. I was.” He was in “fearful trouble” with Kirsten, but the master of unlikely escapes survived with his marriage intact.

This incident was probably THE greatest display of just how fragile is leadership of a cult and how little one can trust ones associates protestations of friendship in politics.

Not one single solitary member of Farage’s clique nor member of his party stepped forward to give one iota of support to him when he was exposed as consorting with this prostitute, who sold her story to the media.

I well recall the incident as I was THE ONLY individual who stepped forward in his defence and published a detailed rebuttal of the claims of the whore who had clearly invented the lurid details selling her body & reputation for a sum of around £15K.

One can only commiserate with Kirsten who has stood by him in this instance and others!

Polling shows Ukip’s abrasive message – anti-immigration, anti-Europe, anti-wind farms – appeals more to men than to women, but Farage angrily rejects suggestions that his party is an expression of the male midlife crisis: a party yearning for the past and railing against uncontrollable external forces.

For many UKIP is clearly based upon a fear of change viewing the past with rose tinted glasses. Some vote for UKIP out of xenophobia but it is my belief that very few of the votes for UKIP are actually for UKIP and rather using UKIP to register a protest against the two main parties that have formed our government in Britain in one form or another as the ‘establishment’ parties.

The selection of Diane James as Ukip’s candidate in Eastleigh is hailed by Farage as evidence that the party is broadening its base, and Farage describes as “moronic” the portrayal of his party as a bunch of be-blazered men drinking in the 19th hole. “Actually we’re picking up quite a lot of support from cool, trendy youngsters, who view Europe as an anachronism,” he says.

UKIP has failed to show the benefits of leaving the EU having banged on for so very long showing all the evils of tyhe EU. UKIP has in fact failed to convince and explain just how arcane is the concept of forming a super state behemoth in a global and increasingly agile world!

The party has seen questions raised about its funding arrangements. Some of his MEPs have run into trouble for expenses irregularities: indeed, a lot of Ukip’s money comes from the legitimate expenses payable to its dozen MEPs. Farage said in 2009 he reckoned he had received “pushing £2m” from the taxpayer over the previous decade. Farage also runs an office in London from the headquarters of the European Commission – ironically Margaret Thatcher’s former HQ in Smith Square – joking that he “takes the devil’s money to do the Lord’s work”.

Ukip was almost ruined after it received a £367,000 “impermissible” donation from former bookmaker Alan Bown – “honest Al” as Farage calls him – after it transpired that he was not on the electoral register when he handed over the cash. Only an appeal to the Supreme Court in 2010 spared the party from having to pay the money back.

The most damaging aspect of this incident was not the possibility of refund and the need to have the money re-donated via legal channels, a process UKIP had historically used when it was found a donor was a resident of the West Indies!

The damaging aspect for UKIP were, in my opinion, the costs UKIP incurred and the exposure of their policy of misleading British authorities and clear contempt for British laws and British Courts.

The party received donations of £314,000 last year from 66 sources – roughly 2 per cent of the money donated to Cameron’s Conservatives – including from Lord Pearson, a former Ukip leader and insurance man.

Stuart Wheeler, founder of the spread betting company IG Index, has also bankrolled the party. It has just nine staff in its central operation.

Ukip’s recent success – it is regularly scoring 10 per cent in national opinion polls – has brought new pressure to bear on Farage. A party that attracted eccentrics and the politically incorrect is now starting to lay down the law to those who bring the party into disrepute.

Let us not forget that consistently Farage’s UKIP do not reflect in votes the results that are attributed to the party by polls!

Nigel Farage speaking in France in 2012©AFPSpeaking in France last year.
On his home turf, the ‘media-savvy’ Farage likes to hold press briefings in pubs

Andreasen, who quit Ukip in a dispute over candidate selection, claims Farage is “desperate to control things” and surrounds himself with yes men, adding: “Either he gets what he wants or you’re out.” Farage has shrugged off the attacks, noting that Andreasen, a former EU chief accountant, has made a habit of acrimonious departures from various organisations.

Let us not forget it was the contol over candidate selection practiced by Farage that had gained Andreasen her position as an MEP in thwe first place! The ethics of exploiting corruption to one’s advantage yet renouncing it when it was likely to go against one must be considered a reprehensible lack of ethics, which is unsurprising from the dishonest and self serving Andreasen.

The party has acted to remove a local Ukip chairman for waging “a war against homosexuals” and, more recently, the leader of the party’s youth wing for saying he backed gay marriage and wanted to legalise drugs in breach of party policy. As it grows, the party’s constitutional commitment to “libertarianism” seems to be waning.

For a party claiming to be Libertarian one must question the move to authoritarian centralised power in one man’s hands.

“I don’t want us all to agree,” says Farage. “But here’s my problem: on the one hand I want us to take a traditional, liberal approach to politics and debate where we do feel free to say what we think, but on the other I can’t have people bringing the whole thing into disrepute.”

Double standards seem to be the order of the day with the dishonesty and criminal behaviour of such as Mick McGough or the verdict of guilty leading to the enforced repayment of over £30,000 purloined from the public purse by Derek Clark or the odious behaviour of Godfrey Bloom and I quote from an entry of today on UKIP controlled Forum where lies promoted by UKIP supporters are all too frequently endorsed  whilst the truth is challenged and those who provide it are censured or abused if presenting facts that expose corruption within UKIP!

QUOTE one extraxt from one of the longer standing UKIP members, a past branch chairman of some standing:

Mr Pain says that the charges against Mr Ellwood were disciplinary ones, and it were those which led to his dismissal. Quite ludicrous. Mr Ramsome chose to name UKIP in a drink-drive matter which had nothing whatever to do with his UKIP work. No disciplinary procedures followed. Mr Bloom was banned from a Brussels hotel for urinating in the foyers plant pot. The same gentleman’s protestations about disappointing service in a brothel was, likewise, not deemed a disciplinary matter. When did misconduct ever result in disciplinary action for any senior or professiojnal member? Mr Ellwood’s findings which showed about ninety percent of bank statement deposits over a three year period, had been converted into cash. It was this which prompted immediate action against him. All else is sheer sophistry.

Campbell Bannerman says that as Ukip becomes more like other political parties, Farage will struggle because “he doesn’t like policy, he doesn’t like detail”. But Farage rejects the idea that he is some kind of dictator. “I wish I was more of one really,” he says. “I don’t think I’m as tough as I ought to be.”

David Bannerman is a poor source when considering detail, facts or integrity as he has so often sought to pass himself off as some sort of nephew of a British PM from before WWI! Though in this instance I agree his analysis!

. . .

Farage acknowledges that the party is experiencing growing pains. He says there is a “lot of catching up to do” as Ukip tries to match its threadbare central organisation with its burgeoning national support, but says he has talented people around him – like Stuart Wheeler and Steve Crowther, the party chairman – to handle the day-to-day running of the party. He focuses on the “politics, media and helping with fundraising”.

To date Crowther would seem to be nothing more than a Farage placement puppet of little political ability, exp[erience or merit and clearly has introduced not one iota of professionalism of note.
Stuart Wheeler on the other hand has been the antithesis of professional in ethical terms – displaying a total, if sensible, lack of trust in UKIP’s, structure as in return for his support he insisted on being Treasurer! A position he took on with no concept of responsibility or ethics as he refused to accept the responsibilities of any treasurer of erthical stance stating he refused to consider the clear lack of integrity of the party he took over!

Just where are the talented people Farage speaks of for certainly there are no signs of independent competence and Farage controls the party from the center even having enacted diktat that permits only himself to select and control staff placement and the listings for candidates.

There are certainly plenty of potential problems ahead if Ukip continues to grow, but those problems are for the future. For David Cameron and Britain’s other mainstream politicians, Farage poses a clear and present danger.

Surely the facts show that the influence is directionless and dependent on just one man – surely an intolerably fragile state for any situation and hardly a model worthy of being called a party of consequence.

The indespensible man is, in this case, UKIP’s only media performer, spokesman or individual of consequence – hardly a model worth investing in in any commercial terms and less so in terms of reliability for these United Kingdoms!

Nigel Farage with Sophie Raworth on 'The Andrew Marr Show', March 3With Sophie Raworth on The Andrew Marr Show, March 3

The challenge is to work out what the danger is. Pollsters analysing Ukip’s surge from 3.5 per cent in Eastleigh in 2010 to 28 per cent this month – or indeed its national ascendancy – tend to agree on one thing: it has relatively little to do with the public’s hostility to Europe, an issue which never makes the top 10 of their daily concerns.

UKIP has patently failed to educate the British public or make a clear case to Leave-The-EU and as every commentator seems to agree UKIP does not gain votes based on a stance of Leave-The-EU or even on its own proclaimed policies but rather as the dustbin of the protest votes.

Lord Ashcroft, the Conservative business tycoon and pollster, has urged Cameron to keep calm and not pander to the Farage agenda. He argues that voters in Eastleigh know the difference between a by-election protest and the choice of a government in a general election.

Ashcroft expects Ukip to fade in the 2015 poll (when Britain’s first-past-the-post voting system discriminates against smaller parties), just as it did in the 2005 and 2010 elections.

There is every reason to expect Lord Ashcrodt is right as track record has shown since UKIP’s showing in real domestic elections has to date proved consistently risible as it tries to forge ahe4ad as a one man band centrally controlled with little or no meaningful infrastructure or even management ability. Just look at the calliber of UKIP’s NEC!

In an extensive piece of research, Ashcroft says Farage and his party appeal because of their general outlook. “Certainly, those who are attracted to Ukip are more preoccupied than most with immigration, and will occasionally complain about Britain’s contribution to the EU or the international aid budget,” he wrote.

Clearly he is right and UKIP has lost focus, assuming it ever really had any!

“But these are often part of a greater dissatisfaction with the way they see things going in Britain: schools, they say, can’t hold Nativity plays or harvest festivals any more; you can’t fly a flag of St George any more; you can’t call Christmas Christmas any more; you won’t be promoted in the police force unless you’re from a minority; you can’t wear an England shirt on the bus; you won’t get social housing unless you’re an immigrant; you can’t speak up about these things because you’ll be called a racist; you can’t even smack your children.”

Few of which are factually accurate  but cleverly exagerate, generalise and play on prejudice and fear – To get votes!!!!

Ashcroft concluded after Eastleigh that Cameron could best tackle Farage’s insurgency by proving that a mainstream Tory government could improve the quality of people’s day-to-day lives. “Our task is not to become more like Ukip, the party of easy answers, but to be the party of government that people want to vote for.”

One is tempted to say ‘No sh*t Sherlock’ but isn’t that what Governments are charged to do in the execution of their duty yet more and more we see politicians acting in their personal interests in pursuit of nothing more than power or in some cases merely gain!

Cameron’s problem is that many Tory MPs can see their chances of election victory in 2015 disappearing and are pushing him to the right – partly for self-serving reasons – to try to neutralise the Ukip threat.

Tory and Labour nerves could be shredded come next year if – as Farage hopes – Ukip win the 2014 European elections, only a year before the next general election. Many at Westminster now believe it is only a matter of time before Labour and the Liberal Democrats are forced to match Cameron’s promise of an EU referendum.

The result of Nikki Sinclaire’s Team effort which has already delivered 250,000 valid signatures to the UK Parliament, in her petition to hold a free, fair and informed referendum on an In / Out basis!

Won’t that make Ukip irrelevant? Farage says that successive hardline Tory leaders have promised to get tough on Europe and each time he has been told his party would be obliterated. “I’ve heard this before,” he says. “Do I trust Cameron? No.”

Does anyone in the face of his Government’s abject failure to implement the swinging cuts that stand any chance or repairing the British economy and the damage done by 13 years of misrule and economic illiteracy of their predecessors!

In any event, Farage’s uncanny ability to articulate Britain’s 21st-century concerns suggests he will remain a big factor in the next election. Some compare him to Alex Salmond, the Scottish Nationalist leader, who has channelled patriotism and a desire to break free from the dominance of “the other”. Farage says he hopes he has some of Salmond’s ability to “speak a language that ordinary folk understand”.

Sadly it is all too apparent that Farage has those same skills and the matching ineptitude in broadening the message beyond dependence on one man and with little or no conscience or competence in creating long term survival of the concept or the party without their presence!

After Eastleigh some Tory MPs believed they had found a chink in Farage’s bulletproof political persona. If Farage had stood, they claimed, he might well have won the seat. “Farage bottled it,” says George Eustice, a Tory MP. Andreasen claims he has grown to love the life in Brussels he professes to despise and does not really want to win a seat at Westminster.

I believe this is over simplistic and Farage is increasingly in a position where he can not afford Westminster exposure on a daily basis nor the loss of income he would experience – possibly realising that his stridency and showmanship may well shine on the EU stage but loses support in domestic elections where more substance is required!

Farage is getting used to the barbs but sounds like he is digging in for the long haul. Can Ukip win seats in the House of Commons? “It’s not guaranteed, because we’ve got a hell of a long way to go. And we’re going to need some senior figures to come and help us do that.”

Let us face facts – UKIP has never come even close to winning a seat in a Domestic General Election where people are inclined to both caution and habit.

But you can never be sure with Farage. After his surprise resignation as Ukip leader in 2009, he was persuaded only with some reluctance to come back to the top job after his brush with death at Hinton-in-the-Hedges.

“If I was honest, on a personal level, all of this has come at a massive sacrifice,” he says, staring into his Italian coffee. “The financial sacrifice has been huge. Many of my colleagues from the late 1980s are now extremely rich people and I don’t mean comfortably off, I mean extremely rich people.”

Many of Farage’s colleagues in the City from the late 1980s are also bankrupt, now in prison or spent in mental and medical terms. Thaty Farage might have progressed to achievement or even wealth seems unlikely based on his actual results in The City whether before he was fired by his French employers or after.

The long string of ‘closed’ companies that follow his track record is worthy of note in this context!

He pauses. “If I’d concentrated on business I would have been a very wealthy man. Do I mind that? No, I chose it. But I think the sacrifice of time, the complete lack of time for family and any sense of normality, that is a sacrifice. I’m not whingeing because I chose it, but it gets a bit wearing. And I did walk away from it once, remember.”

I trust MY thoughts and analysis will lead to others seeking to analyse the facts and perhaps realise that there is every reason to postulate that Farage has in fact sown the seeds for the destruction of UKIP and possibly even set back the possibility to Leave-The-EU in his personal ambition and determination to control.

It is however true, in my opinion, that without Farage UKIP may well have just remained an irrelevant also ran rival to The BNP, the Monster Raving Loonies and The EDL all on the same Nationalistic trail with little real thought of Patriotism!

Hi,
yet further evidence of the imutable law that ‘The higher up the tree the monkey climbs the more you see its Rs …’
Acting within his abilities as UKIP’s performing monkey there is no doubt that he has had considerable success over recent months in re-establishing membership numbers from the catastrophic low to which they fell after he took over the leadership from Roger Knapman who had pushed them up to almost 30,000 in 2004. Under Farage, due to poor leadership skills mainly they had collapsed to an apparent 8 to 10,000.
Now that they are recovering, by dint of giving away memberships and scams such as The Ashford & The Preston call centers, one has to wonder just how meaningful are the quoted membership figures – firstly due to a propensity for dishonesty on the part of UKIP but more relevantly in the light of the collapse of calliber of UKIP leadership, staff and senior members and the huge percentage of informed and competent activists who seem to have been replaced in many aspects by the dross of mankind placing the party firmly in the class of the dustbin of politics.
You will note this particular dustbin readily accepts the dross rejects of the Tory Party, whom they reward and fete with glee and are all too happy to prostitute their principles for publicity and become the dustbin into which domestic voters cast their protests against the political establishment – much as the osious and untrustworthy LibDims did formerly and their predecessors the SDP and Liberals in previous incarnations.

When Nigel’s golden touch let him down

By Andrew Pierce

Ukip leader Nigel Farage may appear to have the Midas touch when it comes to appealing to voters fed up with the main political parties, but there are questions about his business acumen.

The MEP, whose previous career was in the City as a trader of commodities such as tin and cocoa, has run into trouble with a company called Farage Ltd.

Six weeks before the Revenue lodged a High Court petition to wind up the firm, Mr Farage resigned as company secretary.

Not such a Midas touch: MEP Nigel Farage, whose previous career was in the City as a trader of commodities such as tin and cocoa, has run into trouble with a company called Farage LtdNot such a Midas touch: MEP Nigel Farage, whose previous career was in the City as a trader of commodities such as tin and cocoa, has run into trouble with a company called Farage Ltd

His son, Andrew, remains the sole director of the business, which is the subject of a ‘voluntary order’, which is one step from bankruptcy.

The company has liabilities of £135,677 and the taxman is the biggest creditor. It has also failed to file its annual return and accounts on time, which will lead to automatic financial penalties of thousands of pounds.

In his party’s recent by-election address in Eastleigh, Farage explained that UKIP wanted to ‘reduce everyone’s taxes, reintroduce free student grants, increase the size of the military and the police, put more people in prison, and enhance pensions’.

Such policies would cost the State a handsome sum and UKIP’s promises are unrealistic at the best of times — but they depend on all companies paying their taxes.

Do note:
Andrew Farage is Nigel’s brother and NOT one of his two sons – Sam & Thomas who were, as I recall, born in 1989 & 1991 respectively – sons of his first wife.

Note:
Nigel Farage worked at Drexal Burnham and Lambert  LEFT 2004.11.08 (shortly before a court action which as I recall put numerous senior staffers in prison BUT check financial press!)

COMPANY ADDRESS of FARAGE Ltd. was:

Nigel Farage’s BROTHER: Andrew Robert Guy Farage of:
249 Poverest Road, Petts Wood, Kent, BR5 1RD
Date Of Birth 08-06-1966
was Nigel Farage’s co director.

Farage Family Educational Trust-1654 is a separate entity under which NF banked a single cheque, on one occasion, for, as I recall, £1/4 Million in an off shore account in the Isle of Man!

There are several failed companies that have been wound up in Farage’s past and others still trading but seemingly not declared in his declaration of interests at EU.

Hi,
yet another damaging article for Farage & his party and as I have warned, in an effort to clean-up UKIP and try to make it fit for purpose over several years, ‘The higher up the tree the monkey climbs the more you see its Rs …’
One wonders how it will play in reality that Farage admitted his stupidity in failing to set his password on his mobile and believing that mobile phones are secure, against all evidence to obtain money from Rupert Murdoch’s media empire by way of personal competition for the alleged hacking of his mobile because of his position in UKIP and thus the EU on the phone funded by the tax payer!
I have a strange feeling that someone as competent as Murdoch would not have need to boast of dinner with an also ran politician, so has this article shown that Farage and his claque are not to be trusted – being willing to leak confidential meetings in the strange belief it might enhance his credibility!

Farage suggests Conservative pact at secret dinner with Murdoch

Nigel Farage, the leader of the UK Independence Party, held a private dinner with Rupert Murdoch earlier this week in which he suggested he would form an electoral pact with the Conservatives if the Prime Minister stepped down.

The media tycoon invited Mr Farage to a dinner at his central London flat on Tuesday evening in the wake of Ukip’s strong performance at the Eastleigh by-election.

It was the pair’s first meeting and underlines the growing political influence of the fringe party. The Ukip leader is understood to have told Mr Murdoch that he hopes to win half of the seats in next year’s European election.

He said he will then set out plans to join forces with the Conservatives to fight Labour in the 2015 general election, but only if David Cameron agrees to step down as the party leader, well-placed sources said.

Mr Murdoch is said to be supportive of Mr Farage’s views towards Europe and his backing for new grammar schools, but more sceptical about Ukip’s stance on immigration. The emergence of the secret meeting is likely to add to the growing pressure on the Prime Minister amid speculation that Cabinet ministers are positioning themselves for future leadership bids.

Theresa May, the Home Secretary, has recently emerged as a potential Tory leader after defying Cabinet calls for her to relax Britain’s immigration rules.

Mr Cameron has sought to dismiss Ukip as a party of “fruitcakes” and “closet racists” but several Conservative MPs believe it should be taken seriously and a deal should be done with Mr Farage. The Ukip leader is thought to be prepared to do a deal with virtually any other leader of the Conservatives except Mr Cameron, whom he does not trust.

Last week, Ukip beat the Conservatives into third place in the Eastleigh by-election which appears to have led to a series of announcements from the Government on immigration as it seeks to address the growing electoral threat.

Mr Murdoch is thought to share Mr Farage’s disdain for the Prime Minister and is not thought to have met Mr Cameron since the phone hacking scandal at the News of the World erupted in 2011. However, the chairman of News Corporation has maintained cordial relationships with several senior Conservative figures, including Boris Johnson, the Mayor of London, and Michael Gove, the Education Secretary.

Mr Murdoch is also understood to have hosted a private dinner attended by Owen Paterson, a Right-wing Eurosceptic member of the Cabinet, earlier this week.

Before the last election, Mr Cameron and other senior Conservatives made intensive efforts to secure the support of Mr Murdoch’s British newspapers, particularly The Sun.

This article in conjunction with the expected front page article in tomorrow’s Guardian and its follow up can hardly be seen as helpful to either UKIP or these United Kingdoms and this would seem to indicate Farage’s efforts to remove ANY personal challenge to his supremacy even beyond his party!
It is well discussed and published on this blog that Farage has made extensive overtures to the Tory Party for his personal gain – repeatedly thwarted by the more realistic and secure elements of the Conservative Party!

Hi,
it is interesting to note that UKIP has learned so very little that they believe they have some form of secrecy on their members only forum!
This naive belief is as fashionably fatuous as the belief that mobile phones are or even might be secure – again and again socalled self styled ‘celebs’ line up in greed for morally and ethically unjustifiable compensation when for their very existence they are dependent on publicity and voyeurism yet they line up to tell the world they are idiots and have had confidential data on their mobiles hacked!
Even politicians claim they have been hacked, thereby admitting they have no understanding of the technology they use and on which they legislate! Further who would display ANY interest in these nobodies were they not holding positions for the public yet it is they who seek compensation for their stupidity, compensation that they seem unanimously to take control of when it is their constituents and parties are the losers by their foolish naivete!
Can UKIP really not realise many of us with an interest in UKIP read their Forum either by being members of UKIP or using details supplied by members who wish to see UKIP cleaned up and made fit for purpose and yet others have material forwarded to them by members!
A forum is, like a mobile phone, NOT a secure means of communication and perhaps one is justified in asking just why would any party wish to keep secret member discussions – just what are they ashamed of! The Tory Forums are open to read by all.
If a party can not put its points and debate its views with clarity, manners and ethics just who would wish to vote for them anyway! What better way to convince potential voters and supporters than informed and convincing factual debate on an open forum!
Repeatedly UKIP are shown by their own behaviour to be unprofessional, dishonest, corrupt, bullying, racist, anti homosexual and as has been said more than once a collection of ‘fruitcakes, nutters & loony tunes’ acting as The BNP in blazers who from fear and inability to make clear their message and even convince their own members have a proscribed list of people who may not join their party including ex members such as the now defunkt UK First Party (whose members and supporters they can not define and therefore invent) and ex members of the BNP and EDL etc.
Grown up parties are willing to accept converts from all sources, but UKIP proclaim a stance of Libertarian politics yet clearly believe this to mean libertine!

Buoyant Ukip battles to contain party’s most extreme elements

After beating the Tories to clinch second place in the Eastleigh byelection, Nigel Farage’s party is aiming to be squeaky clean

Nigel Farage

Every political party has its fringe, but not many have members whose policy priorities include death to all squirrels, the end of the NHS and a return to the gold standard.

The United Kingdom Independence party is a different case. As Nigel Farage, the party leader, enjoyed his popularity bounce following Ukip’s second place at the Eastleigh byelection – flying to Canada to meet global rightwing heavyweights including the former Australian prime minister John Howard and the US Tea Party guru Ron Paul – officials were scrambling to contain the party’s most extreme elements, including xenophobia and racism.

On one members’ message board about migrants from Romania and Bulgaria, Ukip member Raymond Adams said this week: “Nothing less than ethnic cleansing is taking place. The Lib-Lab-Con EU puppets are dutifully diluting the English in particular to eradicate any nasty Nationalism. Then the next generation can be loyal and dutiful EU clones. EUtopia will have arrived!”

John Patrick added: “If there really are some 4 million Romanians and Bulgarians arriving within the year, I just hope our police are ready. We will have to build more prisons and increase the benefit payments.”

The remarks have been defended by the party chairman, Steve Crowther, but others have been removed. On threads where two members had reportedly linked homosexuality to paedophilia, Jonathan Arnott, the party’s general secretary, complained: “I’ve locked a number of gay marriage/adoption/etc threads which seem to have turned to both sides using it as an excuse to have a go at each other. Some of the personal abuse – on both sides – is some of the worst we’ve had on this forum.”

On Tuesday, Farage was the star turn at a “raucous” meeting of 100 party backers at the Ukip Patrons Club for donors giving more than £1,000. The gathering, the first since the byelection success, took place at the East India Club in St James’s Square where party loyalists dined on “the roast beef of old England” washed down with claret. But beyond London clubland, senior officials have warned “wackier” elements to rein in their excesses or leave, and with party sources saying Farage has flown to Monaco, Zurich and the Channel Islands recently to meet potential backers, message control is firmly on the agenda.

“Its time to start falling in line,” said one party official. “We have to be ready for more scrutiny and responsibility.”

Activist John Patrick said on a members’ forum: “We must now ensure, even more, that we are squeaky clean, and remain that way, if we don’t want the shell-shocked Tories to catch us out. No stings, and watch out for the secret recorders [and] cameras.”

The party machine is to move into more professional accommodation from its cramped floor of the Conservative party’s old HQ in Smith Square, Westminster, and will take space behind Claridges hotel in the same Mayfair building as Max Clifford’s PR offices. Rents in the building are among the most expensive in London at more than £65 per square foot.

The party declined to say who was paying for the space.

There are plenty of awkward associations in his party for Farage to negotiate from his new base. In January, the Dewsbury, West Yorkshire branch of the far-right English Defence League declared its support for Ukip and one member, John Emms, complained on Ukip’s official web forum that the British National party was “subject to persecution by the Political Correction Liberal Left thugs”.

Some of Ukip’s leading lights are feted by the hard right abroad. In February, in the wake of the Sandy Hook school massacre in Connecticut in which 20 children and six adults were shot dead, Viscount Monckton of Brenchley, the party’s former deputy leader, appeared on a rightwing US chatshow describing post-Dunblane gun control in Britain as “kneejerk”.

He also maintained that the European Union was a dictatorship and described Australia’s prime minister, Julia Gillard, as a communist.

Speaking about environmentalism, Monckton decried ICLEI, the international network of local government bodies dedicated to sustainable development, as “the new dictators” and “straightforward, outright in-your-face communism dressed up to appear like it is to do with the environment”.

Hi,
it is just this sort of utterly idiotic article that UKIP attracts that not only gives them the well earned reputation as cranks, closet racists and gadflies but shows just how unprofessional they are.

As for ‘paying their own membership fees’ many will remember the Conservative reject who UKIP laid claim to who did not pay his own membership fee and subsequently denied ever having been a member of UKIP!

Also worthy of note are the large percentage of UKIP members who were given free membership in an attempt to boost membership levels in an effort to fudge an appearance of success and achievement, growth and credibility!

Make of the article what you will!! Minded that both The Telegraph and Guardian have articles showing just how unbprofessional and bulluying UKIP is and its anti female stance can be, lined up for tomorrow and I’m told the Guardian will be front page!

UKIP top brass fuming over self appointed ‘Cambs Media Liaison Officer’ responsible for immigration protest who is not even a party member

By John Elworthy Thursday, March 7, 2013
3:57 PM

Sharon Jardine, UKIP.

A WOMAN who claims to be “UKIP Cambs Media Liaison Officer” is self appointed and not even a member of the party, it was revealed today

Sharon Jardine is nothing to do with UKIP, said the party’s eastern region press officer Stuart Gulleford, who doubles as adviser to UKIP MEP Stuart Agnew.

Mrs Jardine suddenly sprung to the fore when she began organising a Facebook page entitled ‘Wisbech Immigration Issues’ which plans a protest in Wisbech Park in May.

But Mr Gulleford said today: “Her title is unofficial. This is people who have gotten a bit carried away with themselves.”

He was “pretty annoyed” with Mrs Jardine since no one had accredited her with any title connected to UKIP.

“We have nothing to do with the protest march- and I knew nothing of it until newspaper cuttings were brought to my attention,” he said.

“People seem to be adopting titles that don’t exist.”

Mr Gulleford said UKIP did not have a separate NE Cambs branch and he would be asking why Ken Perrin of Chatteris describes himself as “UKIP organiser NE Cambs” in letters to the press.

Mr Gulleford said: “Mr Perrin has no authority to give people job titles and Mrs Jardine certainly does not speak for the whole of Cambridgeshire, as the title I see on her email suggests.

“I have now spoken to Regional Organiser, Councillor Peter Reeve, who is going to sort all this out. “

Mrs Jardine said today: “My membership is being processed as we speak through another member Chris Pain as he is paying the membership fee for me.

“Alan Lay (a declared UKIP candidate for this month’s Fenland by election at Wisbech St Mary) has only just received his membership to and we actually discussed that last night as I was concerned I had not received it all through yet!”

She said her title “was appointed by Ken Perrin who took my UKIP membership form and passed it to the head office so not sure why they are upset”.

Mr Gulleford said later, in an email, that “there is a membership application for Ms Jardine in the pipeline but, at the time of writing, she is not a member.

“I spoke with head office today and they have no record of her membership.

“I am mystified as to the reason for her Party membership – £30- allegedly being paid for by someone from another region.

“The rest of us pay our own membership fees.”

Hi,
it is interesting to note the timing of this article for release, supposedly on the front page of a National newspaper on International Women’s Day‘ bearing out the extreme anti women attitudes of Farage’s party as published by one of his two elected female MEPs and proven in Court by the other!
This  seems to be the tip of the iceberg when it comes to medi interest and from what I am hearing few journalists are finding any merit in the methods, unprofessionalism and lack of probity or transparency of UKIP’s behaviour.
Clearly UKIP lacks moral compass or the simplest of understanding of ethical behaviour as this and many other articles have shown just as have the numerous court verdicts and opinions stated against UKIP and its leaders!

The support given to racism, anti Judaism, anti homosexual, xenophobic and hate filled politics is undeniable and as one youngster pointed out from the audience of today’s BBC ‘Question Time’ UKIP is seen as playing on the fears of the vulnerable – leaving UKIP’s spokesman Diane James visibly flustered and red faced, though to be fair she came across as far more plausible and talented as both a spokesman and leader than any other spokesman put forward to date!

On past track record her days are numbered as with others who have outshone Farage and his personal income – Just think where UKIP might be now and just howmany seats it may well already have held if Farage had not fallen out with and set out to destroy one third of his elected MEPs and numerous elected NEC members!

Ukip leader Nigel Farage accused of making threats in bid to win funding

Two of the Eurosceptic party’s former MEPs claim they were put under pressure to break European Union rules

Nigel Farage

Nigel Farage has been accused of putting pressure on two MEPs to break European rules as he sought to gain tens of thousands of pounds in taxpayers’ money for the UK Independence party.

Nikki Sinclaire, MEP for the West Midlands, told the Guardian the Ukip leader told her the party would not be able to gain access to extra funds meant for a new political grouping without her support.

If she failed to support the group, Farage said he would destroy her political reputation, she alleges. Sinclaire left Ukip in 2010 after clashing with the leadership.

A second MEP claims she was asked by Farage to secure an assistant for his 2010 general election campaign using money from Brussels, in breach of strict EU regulations. Marta Andreasen, who also left Ukip – joining the Conservatives last month – says Farage told her women of childbearing age should not work because they are “a burden to their companies”.

Friends of Farage said Sinclaire had been a “thorn in his side” for many years and had an axe to grind. A Ukip spokesman told the Guardian: “We do not respond to vexatious allegations of this kind from our political opponents.”

Andreasen and Farage have clashed publicly before – after she quit Ukip, the party leader said: “Having left the OECD, the European commission and Ukip in unpleasant circumstances, the Conservative party deserve what is coming to them. The woman is impossible.”

Farage and his party argue that the EU is a waste of money and call for Britain’s withdrawal. Over the last 10 years, Ukip has raised £6.2m, according to the Electoral Commission, with hundreds of thousands of pounds coming from its MEPs, whose salaries and expenses are met by European taxpayers.

Ukip ran the Lib Dems a close second last week in the Eastleigh byelection. All three main parties are now wrestling with how to respond to the rise of the Eurosceptic party, which is to field about 2,000 candidates in the May council elections.

Both accusers are the only female MEPs ever elected by Ukip and both left the party, claiming there is a sexist attitude at the top of the organisation.

Sinclaire, a close associate of Farage for 14 years, said she was “intimidated and bullied” by him as he sought to establish the European Freedom and Democracy group in the European parliament.

In July 2009, he had secured 29 MEPs from a number of countries to support the establishment of the group. Sinclaire alleges that he told her he needed a 30th MEP to ensure that he secured additional funds. When she replied that she was unsure because of homophobic and antisemitic comments by Italian politicians who were part of the grouping, he responded by threatening her, she said.

“He said to me that unless I signed up to this group by 10am the following morning then it would cost the party half a million pounds and it would be all my fault,” she said. “If I didn’t sign up, he said he would make sure that everyone knew it was my fault and damage my standing in the party.”

“There is no doubt in my mind that he was seeking these funds for the political party, not for the new group,” she said. “His main objective was to get the party to gain access to more money, and he was prepared to bully me to get it.”

EU sources said if a grouping increased the number of MEPs from 29 to 30, its funding would be increased by about €50,000. EU rules state money for groupings should not be used for party political purposes, but Sinclaire said the funds were supposed to be sent instead to Ukip and filtered through to London. Sinclaire eventually joined the group, but regretted doing so, she said. She left it in 2010 and is now an independent MEP.

Andreasen is an MEP for South East England and a former Ukip treasurer who defected to the Conservative party last month. She said Farage instructed her to recruit an assistant on the party’s publicly funded Brussels payroll, despite rules that MEPs’ assistants must work for at least part of their time on European parliament business.

“I had a specific situation where I was asked to recruit someone for the southeast region [where she and Farage are MEPs],” she said. “I realised he was only going to work on the general election in 2010 with Nigel Farage, who was standing in Buckingham.

“He [Farage] told me to draw up the contract for him and he would give me a staff member from the group in Brussels. He wanted me to recruit someone who would work in an office in the northern part of the south-east constituency, close to Buckingham.”

Andreasen said the contract would have been for an assistant earning around £40,000 a year pro-rata and they got as far as identifying the assistant Farage wanted, but she realised Farage was asking her to use an MEP’s allowance solely for his UK political campaigning. She said she decided it would have breached parliamentary regulations and declined.

EU rules state: “The provided allowances are only eligible when spent on activities and objects which are directly linked to the office of a member of the European parliament.”

A Ukip MEP has been found to have misused taxpayer-funded allowances following a crackdown by Olaf, Europe‘s anti-fraud watchdog. Derek Clark, an MEP for the East Midlands, had successfully applied for money from the EU to pay for two assistants in 2004 and 2005. But instead of working for Clark, the inquiry found they worked almost exclusively for Ukip from Britain.

Clark, who has given more than £190,000 to the party in the past 10 years, said last year that he began paying political workers with EU money only after being asked to do so by an adviser to the party, whom he refused to name.

Andreasen said Farage and others were “very dismissive and disrespectful” when discussing legislation that affects women.

“The general attitude was that we would never support anything that was in favour of women. He told me that his attitude was that women who are at the age of being able to give birth to children should not be employed because they are a burden to their companies. It is a very extreme position.

“He dismisses you as if you were not a proper interlocuter. He does not discuss with you, because you are a lower-level human being. I could not respond or be angry about each thing that would happen,” she said.

Sinclaire said Meanwhile Rupert Murdoch said that he had invited Farage to his London flat for dinner. The News International chairman told his followers on Twitter that Farage was “reflecting opinion” at the dinner. “Few days in UK, Italy. Politics both places very fluid, economies going nowhere. New leaders emerging on distant horizon,” he tweeted. “Boris Johnson, Michael Gove, few excellent, frustrated ministers. Farage reflecting opinion. Florence mayor Renzi brilliant young Italian.”

she had faced many years of sexism from the party. Ukip used to hold national executive meetings in men-only gentlemen’s clubs in central London such as the Caledonian Club. “I was allowed to attend the actual meeting but could not join the rest of the NEC in the bar, where the eventual decisions were actually made,” she added.

This being the online article I am advised that it will be on the front page of the newspaper – The first of such articles as this seems to be only a small amount of the material which I know to have been gathered by this paper so far – the more damaging material would seem to be yet to come!

As I have repeatedly warned for many years supporters of UKIP should have done all they could to clean up UKIP and establish ethical behaviour and competent leadership with accountability, transparency and probity championing democracy by example or it would eventually fail as ‘the higher up the tree the monkey climbs the more you see its Rs …’

.
Hi,
reading around the blogosphere, which seems to give a far more in touch take on most aspects of the news, I was interested in the two postings shown beloe, which seemed to have a clear grasp on the political scene in Britain.
When you have read these you may also wish to track down the speech given by Andrew Marr in the EU parliament building one evening last week, wherein he explained the shift in policy and interest of The USA from Atlanticism to facing out across The Pacific and building new and stronger allies both in and on the rim of the Pacific.
Astonishingly much was made of the one sentence shoehorned into Obama’s recent ‘State of the Union’ speech dropping the crumb of comfort to old allies and outdated interests in EUrope with regard to more open borders for trade.

Does this make American policy increasingly Janus like – well clearly not as they have never denied their self interest and as America moves towards self sufficiency in oil with Mexico, US and Canada shortly to overtake the Middle East in oil production the relevance of their defence of the Straits of Hormuz and the gulf oil diminishes, as of course will its interest in propping up the rotting corpse of Zionism that has so befouled geo politics and the reputation of Judaism and the land of Palestine over modern recent history.

It is clear that America no longer sees Russia as the great enemy and it is clearly no rival in trade terms so why would America require EUrope as a buffer state any longer?

The world is moving and very clearly UKIP is little more than an irritating pimple in the gutter of EUropean politics, having lost sight of its ‘raison d’etre’ blinded by the personal ambitions and agendas of its unprofessional and self serving leadership clique and its claque of goffers & fools.

A decade of unfettered media hysteria – the demonisation of immigrants, Muslims and now benefit claimants, large families, the disabled, the sick, the poor – it has left the electorate blaming one another for the ills of society, for the consequences of this moral vacuum now permeating every mien, nook and cranny of our public and private lives. This administration’s modus operandi is that social reform is easiest ushered in under utter chaos, with fires to put out at every turn and where neighbour is turned against neighbour, the poor against the rich and religious orthodoxy against the LGBT lobby, in a twisted manipulation of the equalities brief.

It says much when the Rennard scandal and ensuing fiasco cannot further worsen the train wreck that the Lib Dems have become over the last two years. Broken promises, compromises on core values let alone policy and the fall of Huhne – a man who used to slam down papers onto the table as he went toe-to-toe against the PM in cabinet meetings – leaves the Lib Dems on the political equivalence of a palliative care pathway ahead of the next general election.

We are, as things stand, facing a period of phenomenal change – a social engineering which places our society on the edge of a precipice. Beneath us lie the ruins of civilisations which have chosen self interest and injustice over the public good, iniquity and concentration of wealth and power over enlightenment and true democracy. Anger and outrage at Tory lead policies and social reforms need to calm, it is an anger that can easily return to bite us. We need to cut through the rhetoric, be cool headed and clear not only about where the left stands but also the about rise of the right. The far right is on the rise, let there be no mistake about it. In Germany, 9% of the country expresses right-wing extremist attitudes and xenophobic prejudice is expressed by 25% of the population. In Greece, we see Golden Dawn, Italy’s Northern League, Le Pen’s Front National, Wilders’ Freedom Party, Hungary’s Jobbik, the list goes on. Increasingly, people are speaking out but little is being done to stem the tide as they fill the vacuum created by the implosion of the left and liberal democratic parties.

And yet there seems to be an ostrich-like denial that this is, or could ever be the case in the UK. Like reporters in Iraq, we have become so ’embedded’ with the far right here, that we cannot see the wood for the trees. UKIP is tied with a number of European far right parties through the Europe of Freedom and Democracy (EFD) group.

Although UKIP walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, Farage has long denied ties with domestic far right movements. However, last year I was shown evidence of a secret meeting which took place between UKIP MEP Gerald Batten, the fundamentalist group Christian Concern for Our Nation, Islamophobic hate peddler Sam Solomon and via telephone, the leader of the English Defence League, Tommy Robinson.

The meeting was entitled “Dismantling Multiculturalism” and amongst the policy discussions was the attack on core institutions of British Muslim communities – organisations such as the Muslim Council of Britain and Quilliam Foundation. Batten’s scrawl also says (under green highlighter) “3) No Islamic Banking” and listed under number four “no halal, no kosher”. On the last page of his “Charter of Understanding” intended for Muslims, Batten has prepared an “affirmation” for Muslims to sign and return by post.

Chilling.

There are significant questions for both UKIP and Farage. As the Lib Dem’s wither on the vine and Labour searches for its soul, UKIP continues to drag Tory policy (not unwillingly) to the right. Cameron continues to court their voters through policy tweaks and with Marta Andreasen defecting, we see little divide between the parties. As shown in Eastleigh, there is no effective protest option in the British political landscape outside of UKIP. At the Rotherham by election Farage remarked to Newsnight

“at the general election two and a half years ago, UKIP scored 3% of the vote… you’re looking at a very different party, a very confident party”.

The far right is here. In our midst. And we see it not. Or worse still, we care not. If the left can get their act together quickly, the Horn of Gabriel need not yet be sounded. In this instance, hope needn’t prolong the torment of man. Epictetus asked us to leave our sons well instructed rather than rich, since the hopes of the instructed are better than the wealth of the ignorant. It’s advice we would do well to follow.

of interest as a supporter of UKIP who has seen the damage done by the unprofessional self interest of its leadership and its claque.
.

Regards,

Greg_L-W..
